Ajwain Seeds
$6.99 – $9.99
Ajwain seeds also known as carom seeds, are often confused with Anise seeds because of their similarities in looks. Ajwains seeds are grayish-green in color, and curbed and striped in shape, much smaller than cumin and caraway seeds. They’re bitter, earthy in taste with hint of thyme.
Ajwain is typically found in Asian, Ethiopian, North Indian, Iranian and Pakistani cuisines. They’re quite popular in North Indian vegetarian dishes, especially in Gujarat and Punjab. Ajwain seeds pair well with starchy foods along with fish curries, lentil stews, pastries, flat breads and vegetables. Add crushed Ajwain to any dish to enhance the flavor. In ancient Egypt, Ajwain seeds were used regularly as a medicine and as a culinary spice. In Ayurvedic medicine, Ajwain seeds have a long history treating asthma, persistent coughs, flatulence and indigestion.
